Pete Hines of Bethesda Has Confirmed An Unannounced Game Is Coming Before The End of 2017
Bethesda Softworks, the publisher of the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games, has a game coming that haven’t heard about, apparently, and it’s coming this year. Bethesda’s head of marketing Pete Hines dropped the big tease in an interview with Tek Syndicate.
Check out the brief clip below in which Pete Hines casually drops the tease.
When asked if it would be a new IP or an extension of an existing franchise, Hines didn’t budge.
Immediately after the tease, Hines tweeted that people should “ignore” his comments. “Probably just had a concussion from the beating I took online and was rambling,” he said. But he has since confirmed that tweet was a joke that some people didn’t get. In another tweet, Hines said he stands by his original comments.
“I’m positive I knew what I was saying in the interview,” he said. “The tweet was a joke I was making to MrMatty.”
There you go. Expect an announcement from Bethesda soon, I guess.
In 2016, Todd Howard said that the studio is working on three “big and crazy” projects. Although he don’t know what these games are yet, or even what form they will take, we do know that they probably don’t include Elder Scrolls VI since the studio has said they want to try new things.
Bethesda already has a pretty solid lineup for the rest of 2017. Dishonored 2’s Death of the Outsider DLC launches September 15, whilst The Evil Within 2 and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus release in October. Skyrim is also coming to Nintendo Switch this year.
The thought of yet another game that we don’t already know about is pretty exciting, but only time will tell what it could be.
Unfortunately, rumours that the studio is working on a Game of Thrones game have been seemingly quelled after a listing on retailer Target’s website was confirmed fake. At least for now. There may actually some truth to the leak, after all.
